Kapanlagi.com - Men's doubles team Vincent Rompies and Duta Modjo, also known as Duta Sheila On 7, failed to win the championship title in the 'Tepok Bulu 2023' badminton tournament held at Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday (17/11).
Vincent and Duta lost in straight sets with scores of 21-13 and 21-12 to the Malaysian pair Fazley Yaakob and Imran Aqil. They admitted their defeat and the opponent's superiority.
"Indeed, we might be inferior to Malaysia in terms of skills and many fundamental aspects, it must be admitted," said Vincent after the match.

Despite losing in his own event, Vincent doesn't feel disappointed. He actually had fun competing with Duta on the field.
“Earlier on the field, unexpectedly, both of us had so much fun. Duta and I had a great time and hopefully everyone here is having a good time too. Hopefully, we can bring happiness to all the spectators. I apologize if it didn't meet expectations, but thank you very much for being here,” he said.

Vincent expressed his pride in partnering with Duta in this match. Even being next to Duta to play badminton, Vincent already felt like a champion.
“But you should know how proud I am. On the field, I even told Duta 'Just being next to you is already a championship for me' so being with my dear friend 'having you is already a victory for us',” said Vincent, who was immediately embraced by Duta with a smile.

Meanwhile, Duta hopes that the Tepok Bulu event can continue to be held by Vindes Sport. Not only between Indonesia and Malaysia, but also other countries.
"Hopefully, Tepok Bulu can continue. Hopefully not only in Indonesia and Malaysia, maybe Thailand. Just keep succeeding. Keep being creative. Make as many people as possible happy out there," said the vocalist of Sheila On 7.
