Lukman Sardi Firmly Converts Religion Because of a Touching Moment During Umrah

On that occasion, he revealed a fact about his family. It turns out that he comes from a family with different religious backgrounds.

"At that time, I didn't want to think about (having) different religions. My family background is also not the same for everyone. I have Catholic cousins. Even my younger brother leans towards Catholicism. This is not an unusual occurrence," said the 50-year-old man on Daniel Mananta's Youtube channel on Wednesday, (28/7) yesterday.

Lukman Sardi then mentioned someone who influenced him to firmly convert religions. It turns out that person is his grandfather. Opa (Lukman Sardi's nickname for his grandfather) talked about the power of God's love.

"Actually, the influencer in that matter is my opa from my mother Marini. He was a soldier but he was gentle, he was honest, never angry, and based on love," said Lukman Sardi.

1. Search Begins

Since then, Lukman Sardi began his spiritual journey. This moment also coincided with his relationship with his wife, Pricillia Pullunggono, who at that time had a different religion from him. In that journey, he prayed and surrendered to God regarding which path he should take first.

"From there, I started my journey to find out. My family taught me to be religious but not fanatic. During that journey, many questions arose. But I don't know why I couldn't find the right answer," said Lukman Sardi.

"That journey was very long. Until the moment our relationship became serious. So I feel comfortable with her (Pricillia Pullunggono). Until there was a crucial moment, I prayed to God, you (God) tell me what I should do first. I surrender," he added.

2. Umrah Worship

Lukman Sardi even got the opportunity to go on a free Umrah trip. At that time, he was acting in the movie NAGABONAR JADI 2 (2007). He felt that the opportunity was an answer to his prayer.

"Until tomorrow, I realized that this is the answer to my prayer. I joined the movie Nagabonar Jadi 2 and it was a box office hit. There was a bonus Umrah trip. Even though I was in the middle of this spiritual journey," said Lukman Sardi.

Long story short, Lukman Sardi took the opportunity. While performing tawaf around the Kaaba, Lukman Sardi suddenly became emotional because he had difficulty touching the Hajar Aswad.

"I performed Umrah as a Muslim. During tawaf, I felt that it was not easy to reach the end. I was very angry because I couldn't reach it, and I cursed at everyone," he added.

3. Touching Moment

In this moment, Lukman Sardi suddenly remembered his grandfather. He felt that he should emulate the loving nature that his grandfather always applied in his daily life. At this moment, he felt that he received divine guidance. The son of Idris Sardi couldn't hold back his tears.

"Until finally, I was reminded of my grandpa's writing about love. Finally, I kept quiet and followed the concept first. There was someone passing by whom I showed love to, suddenly I didn't realize, I was already at the end. Finally, I kissed (Hajar Aswad) and was given extra time, and then I cried a lot. That's the love I was looking for," continued Lukman Sardi.

After returning from Umrah, Lukman Sardi felt more determined to convert to another religion. However, he was still waiting for the right moment to announce it to the public. He felt that the concept of love introduced by his grandfather was extraordinary.

"That's why when I came back from Umrah, the concept of love was extraordinary. Finally, I came back with a strong conviction that this is what I will follow," concluded Lukman Sardi.
