Luna Maya Excited to Appear Without Makeup in the Film 'SUKMA', Here’s Why

Luna Maya once again demonstrates her dedication to acting in the latest horror film titled SUKMA. Playing the role of Arini, Luna admits she received an unusual challenge from the director, Baim Wong. Instead of being asked to look beautiful, she was actually prohibited from using any makeup at all.

According to her, Baim's request to appear natural and disheveled was one of the reasons that attracted her to this project. Interestingly, Luna claims to be very happy with the challenge for practical reasons.

"The first thing he asked me was, 'Is it okay if you don't wear makeup?' Oh, I was so happy. So happy. Why? I can sleep longer," said Luna Maya at Gandaria City, South Jakarta, on Monday (8/9/2025).

For an actress, preparation time including makeup and hairstyling before shooting is crucial.

Without having to go through that time-consuming process, Luna can arrive at the shooting location more efficiently.

Maxime Bouttier's wife even mentioned that her appearance in this film was intentionally made more disheveled.

"Because there’s no need for makeup, no need for a hairdo. So it’s really, even messed up, it actually looks more unkempt than the original," she explained.

This challenge becomes Luna Maya's first experience throughout her career in the film industry. She admitted that she has never appeared in a film without makeup at all.

This moment is seen as a refreshing new challenge that she immediately accepted without hesitation.

"So, that one challenge was accepted, like okay, ready. Because in the film, there has never been, well, there is no make-up at all. Just that alone makes me happy, that there is a new challenge," concluded Luna Maya.
