According to Alodokter, Rosacea is a facial skin disease characterized by red rashes and acne-like spots.
The exact cause of this disease is still unknown. In Maia Estianty's case, the disease flares up when exposed to sunlight.
"Sometimes when I'm abroad, I get exposed to the sun, and then I get these spots," said Maia Estianty in Deddy Corbuzier's podcast.
This disease is known to be incurable, but can be controlled with laser treatment.
"It's suppressed, because the disease can't disappear," she said again.
Although it cannot be cured, Maia herself explained that Rosacea is not an autoimmune disease.
Because of her condition, Maia took the initiative to build her own facial treatment clinic.
