Mayangsari Admits Dating Since 1997 and Having a Secret Marriage While Bambang Was Still Legally Married to Halimah

Responding to the issue, Mayang spoke to the public through the YouTube channel Maia AlElDul TV, which aired today, Friday (5/3). Maia Estianty, who is the host, started the conversation with Mayang, who has been her friend for several years.

"How many years have you been married to Bambang?" Maia asked.

"20... approaching 22 years," Mayang answered.

"Sorry, is it legally recognized?" Maia asked.

"If legally recognized, it's from 2011," Mayang answered.

Curious about Mayang's answer, Maia asked how long her friend had been married in secret. Because previously Mayang mentioned that she had been Bambang's wife for almost 22 years.

"How many more years...?" Maia asked.

"Well, I got married to Mas Bambang in 2000. We dated for 3 years before that. So I started dating in 1997, got married in 2000, had our child in 2005, then got married legally in 2011, until now. Alhamdulillah, complete with the story, huh huh huh (arguing)," Mayang answered.

2. Bambang Still the Legal Husband of Halimah

Mayang's confession is quite surprising, because what the public has known so far is that during that year, Bambang was still legally married to Halimah Kamil. At that time, rumors about Bambang and Mayang's relationship had not yet surfaced.

Rumors about Mayang and Bambang's relationship only started to surface in mid-2000, and reached its peak in 2006 when Halimah confronted the singer's house with her children. Meanwhile, Bambang's marriage with Halimah only ended in 2010.

Maia is still curious about how Mayang feels being a second wife. With Bambang still being legally married to Halimah, Mayang can be considered as the second wife for 10 years.

"So, the legal marriage is only 11 years. How did it feel before it was officially recognized by the state?" Maia asked.

"If I may choose, May, there are many people asking about this. If I open up about this, I have to protect everyone's feelings," Mayang said.

"In principle, I never planned or dreamed of marrying someone who already had a family. So, if now I am seen as someone like this, it is the consequence. If I explain, it seems like I am defending myself. But my parents never taught me that. Don't say it was a mistake or destiny," she concluded.
