Mo Sidik Becomes a Producer and Comedy Consultant in the Film 'LEGEND OF CALON ARANG', Refuses to Hire Comedians for This Reason

Kapanlagi.com - Comedian Mo Sidik is currently involved in the latest film project entitled LEGEND OF CALON ARANG, produced by Lingkar Film and Kunci Rumah Film. LEGEND OF CALON ARANG itself is a film whose story is based on folklore or folk tales.

When met in Kemang, South Jakarta, on Saturday (20/5), Mo Sidik talked a little about his latest film project. He explained that his involvement in the film LEGEND OF CALON ARANG was as a producer and also as an Inject Comedy Consultant.

"A curse, Calon Arang is a Javanese and Balinese legend, if you know leak, it comes from that legend. The legend tells of a woman accused of being a witch even though she was a noblewoman and was ostracized. When she had a beautiful daughter who had many suitors, but when they found out her mother was Calon Arang, many of them withdrew," said Mo Sidik.

"During the time of Suzanna, it was the era of horror comedy. In this film, I am a producer and Inject Comedy Consultant," he added.

1. Because It's Expensive?

According to his position in the making of LEGEND OF CALON ARANG, Mo Sidik said that he wanted to add a touch of comedy to the scenes in this film. However, uniquely, Mo Sidik did not use comedians as supporters of the comedy parts.

"There are no comedians, for now we're not using them because they're busy and expensive. It's tricky to incorporate the comedy until I had to revise it many times. The drafts are quite numerous," he said.

In addition, Mo Sidik explained that indeed LEGEND OF CALON ARANG is a horror genre film. However, he emphasized that the horror intended will be related, meaning it will be relevant to the current society's life.

"It will be very related, so the audience will be terrorized," he said.
