Kapanlagi.com - Although not an actress or singer, Najwa Shihab's popularity is not inferior to other artists. The daughter of Quraish Shihab is known as a presenter and journalist who is firm, brave, and intelligent. Therefore, Nana is often seen as an inspiration by the public.

A little flashback to the past, Nana, as she is commonly called, actually has no educational background in journalism at all. She was a graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia. She revealed this in a recent Instagram post.

"I believe that career choices are not limited by the choice of faculty. I studied at the Faculty of Law UI but when I graduated, I decided to work as a television journalist, a career that I have built for 17 years. And in the past 3 years, I have started my own business, founding a media startup, @narasi.tv," Nana recalled in the caption of her post.

1. Can Learn Many New Skills During College

Although the profession and college major she took are not aligned, this mother of one child admits that she has learned many valuable lessons during her education in the Faculty of Law. In fact, the skills she acquired during college are also very useful in her career.

"In the Faculty of Law, I learned how to draft indictments and defenses, the legislative process, drafting commercial contracts, and various theories of state administration. Yes, I learned the substance of legal law, but what is equally important is the skills that are developed from the process of studying various legal disciplines," added Nana.

"Law students are taught how to identify and separate issues, choose and sort arguments, formulate ideas, and articulate them with appropriate diction. Law students are trained to negotiate, build sound reasoning, ask questions accurately, read quickly and carefully, and summarize the essence of the problem. These are relevant skills for any profession," explained this 42-year-old woman.

2. Studying is Not Just About Grades and GPA

Until now, many students tend to focus on GPA (grade point average). Nana has a different view on this.

"But beyond all that, there are many important things that I gained from studying, not just from the classroom. Studying is not just about grades and GPA. It's also about the experiences we gain, the networks we build, the skills we practice, and the empathy we hone. And all of that can be obtained if we actively participate in organizations and socialize with people from diverse backgrounds," she continued.

3. Message from Najwa Shihab to Younger Students

At the end of her long caption, Nana didn't forget to give a message to the millennials who are currently pursuing higher education.

"So, younger siblings, regardless of your faculty or where you graduated from, don't let that limit you in determining your career choices or starting something completely new. Everything is now possible in the digital age, the key lies in creativity and the willingness to keep trying," concluded the wife of Ibrahim Assegaf.
