Naysila Mirdad's Total Commitment to a 1980s Flight Attendant Haircut in the Film 'KAPAL TERBANG'

Beautiful actress Naysila Mirdad once again shows her total commitment in the world of acting. This time, she is involved in a new film titled KAPAL TERBANG, which is based on a true story. In this film, the woman affectionately known as Nay is trusted to play the character Puspita, a senior flight attendant in the 1980s.

To delve into this role, Naysila is willing to drastically change her appearance. One of the most striking changes is her hairstyle. Nay had to cut her hair to meet the appearance standards of flight attendants at that time, which had strict rules regarding hairstyles.

"So indeed we are all adjusted based on the class of flight attendants. It turns out that flight attendants also have their own seniority. Now, I am a senior flight attendant, I am the most senior, so my hair can be long and can be styled in an updo," said Naysilla Mirdad when met in the Wijaya area, South Jakarta, Friday (27/2/2026).

The daughter of Lydia Kandou admitted that she felt a little sad when her hair had to be cut straight at the back. However, as a professional actress, she considers her body like a canvas that is ready to be painted according to the needs of the character.

"Yes, I am (sad) again, but it's okay because it's for the needs of the film, the needs of the character. For us actors, I think we are like a canvas. We can be altered to fit the character, so it's fine, if we accept it, we commit, that's how I feel," she added wisely.

To prepare for her role, Naysila took it seriously. She conducted in-depth research about the plane hijacking incident of Woyla that inspired this film. Not only did she ask her parents and relatives who lived during that era, but Nay also attended a special workshop with the head flight attendant from one of the airlines.

"There was definitely research, but besides the research, we also used an acting coach, and during the workshop, we brought in the head flight attendant from one of the airlines, learned a lot from that too," she explained.

The film KAPAL TERBANG itself is Naysila's first action film. She feels challenged to revive the tense atmosphere inside the plane that occurred decades ago. For Nay, this project is very interesting because it highlights an important historical value that is often not well-known in detail by the younger generation.
