NEO Rap Group Member, Derry Arrested by Police for Involvement in Marijuana Drug Trafficking

He was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the sale and purchase of marijuana drugs. South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Pol Azis Andriansyah said, initially the police secured RS with 16.2 grams of marijuana as evidence.

"A few days ago, we received information about a dealer or person who sells and buys marijuana with the initials RS. Then an investigation was carried out and it was true that the person in question was suspected of buying and selling marijuana drugs and then arrested. We obtained evidence of 16.2 grams of marijuana from Mr. RS," said Commissioner Pol Azis Andriansyah at South Jakarta Police Station, Friday (6/8).

Then, after further investigation from the arrest of RS, the police obtained the name ID or Indra Derryanto. A rap musician who is a member of the music group NEO.

"Then we questioned the person in question and obtained information that he obtained the goods from someone who is still on the wanted list. He also bought and sold to several people, one of whom is Mr. ID. Then from our ID sibling, we also obtained information that he also conducted a transaction with someone on behalf of AB," he said.

"From sibling AB, evidence of 42.8 grams of marijuana was also found. From the 3 arrest operations, a total of 59.8 grams of marijuana were found," Azis added.

Kombes Pol Azis Andriansyah regrets that Indra Derryanto, also known as Derry, is involved in drug abuse. However, Derry is a talented rap singer.

"One of the perpetrators, we are quite concerned because he is a young talent who has risen to fame as an artist in a rap group. But now, of course, we need to take legal action by the police so that the drug trap does not spread to other young generations," he said.

"Regarding some of the people we have arrested, we charge them with Article 114 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, Article 111 paragraph 1, and Article 132 of Law No. 35 of 2009," he said.

"The punishment for the charges we have filed is a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years. Some of them have been involved in this trafficking activity since last year, around November 2020, with transactions ranging from 100 grams, approximately 400 thousand rupiahs," he concluded.
