Netizens Criticize, Mayang, Vanessa Angel's Sister, Didn't Expect 'Kemarin' Song to Trend on Youtube

Kapanlagi.com - Vanessa Angel's sister, Mayang and Chika, released a music video cover of the song 'Kemarin' by the band Seventeen on the Pro Aktif YouTube channel. After being released for five days, the music video has been watched by 2.7 million viewers.

Both Mayang and Chika did not expect the song they sang to be watched by millions of viewers and even trend on YouTube.

"Yes, initially we didn't expect it to trend. Our initial intention was not to make it trend or anything. We came up with the idea to release it on the 40th day. We didn't expect it to trend and we didn't hope for that," said Chika in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Saturday (27/11/2021).

The music video released by Mayang and Chika immediately received negative responses from netizens. Mayang and Chika were accused of taking advantage of the situation amidst Vanessa Angel's news.

"Personally, I have been taught music by my mother since I was 4 years old. Vocal lessons, practicing together with Kak Vanes. But if it's said that I'm following in Kak Vanes' footsteps, no. Playing the guitar is just a hobby for me," she said.

1. Deny the Opportunistic Aji

Mayang also denies the presence of the music video for the song Kemarin as just an opportunistic act. According to her, what they did was truly from the sincere heart.

"I made the cover of the song without any intention of opportunism at all, once again, there was no intention for opportunism. This is purely from my heart, I dedicate it to the late sister Vanes," said Mayang.

"For the 40th day of sister Vanes, I don't expect likes or viewers. This is purely from my heart and Chika's dedication to the late sister," added Mayang.

Mayang and Chika admitted that they held back tears while singing the song Kemarin. Because they truly imagined the figure of their late sister while singing the song.

"Because during the making of the music video, I held back my tears because I imagined where my late sister was. So I really held back my tears from the heart," said Mayang.
