Non-Muslim, Sarwendah Still Teaches the Meaning of Ramadan Fasting to Betrand Peto

Kapanlagi.com - Currently, Muslims around the world are observing the fasting ritual in the holy month of Ramadan. As a non-Muslim, Sarwendah wants to take this opportunity to teach her children, including Betrand Peto, about the meaning of tolerance among different religious communities.

In her latest video on YouTube titled 'Coretan Sarwendah - Mengajarkan arti puasa PENTINGNYA SALING MENGHORMATI', Sarwendah shares the valuable experience for her son. She emphasizes the importance of respecting other people's beliefs and explains the concept of fasting to Betrand Peto.

"This year in Ramadan is the first time I explain to Koko (Betrand) about what fasting is and why we should respect each other. It's important to teach children how to respect other people's beliefs because Koko doesn't understand the meaning of fasting," writes Sarwendah.

1. Prepare Iftar Menu for Household Assistants

Initially, Sarwendah asked for help from Betrand Peto and Thalia Putri Onsu to prepare their own needs. Then, together with Ruben Onsu, they also invited them to cook iftar menu for their household assistants.

At that moment, Betrand asked, "Why don't they do it themselves, mom? We don't know what they want to eat, right?"

Hearing what her son said, Sarwendah started to teach the meaning of Ramadan fasting, "What we prepare is takjil, Koko. Sweet food for them to eat at the beginning to break their fast." However, Betrand apparently didn't understand what his mother meant.

2. The Meaning of Ramadan Fasting

Realizing that her son is still innocent, Sarwendah explained again, "So breaking the fast is after a full day of fasting, they eat takjil and then pray first. Then they eat a big meal."

Not stopping there, Sarwendah also taught Betrand to always say 'Happy fasting' to all the Muslims he meets. "Yes, that is a sign of our respect for those who are fasting," she said again.

3. Message from Sarwendah

At the end of the video, Sarwendah wrote a message for people who are curious about religion and beliefs, "Actually, whatever we do does not change our beliefs. So my fellow believers, there should be no more questions and doubts."

"Because according to my husband, 'Just ignore it, if someone talks about religion or our faith. Our faith is in our hearts and minds, there's no need to explain our beliefs. Just pray for the best for them, don't retaliate.' We teach our children how to respect, love, and appreciate others wherever you may be because in the eyes of God, we are all the same," she concluded.
