Not a Criminal Act, Komnas Perempuan Wants to Stop Dinar Candy Pornography Case

Seeing Dinar Candy's case, where she expressed her complaints about the extension of the PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) until she became stressed, the National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) requested the police to stop the alleged pornography case.

What Dinar Candy did was not a criminal act, so the National Commission on Violence Against Women requested to see Dinar Candy's case of wearing a bikini only as an expression of protest about the extension of the PPKM.

"The one who has the right to impose a sentence is the 'judge'. But what the National Commission on Violence Against Women requests or recommends is that we may need to look at this case not only from the aspect of DC (Dinar Candy), this wearing a bikini is to express her protest. But the background of why she did it," said Siti Aminah, Commissioner of the National Commission on Violence Against Women, as quoted from Detikcom, on Friday (6/8).

"If what I read yesterday, DC did it because she was pressured by the extension of the PPKM. Because she was stressed, we see that this pandemic happened, when the PPKM was extended, it also put pressure on individuals whose forms may be different from one another. The way to resolve it is different from one another, and we have to acknowledge that this pandemic also affects the mental health of each individual," she added.

1. No Need to Bring it to Legal Realm

In addition, the case involving Dinar Candy's action of wearing a bikini on the side of the road, according to Komnas Perempuan, does not need to be brought into the legal realm.

Komnas Perempuan itself hopes that Dinar's case will be stopped and not pursued, as punishing this beautiful DJ would be a lack of justice in the legal system.

"Actually, there's nothing wrong, it's dangerous wherever it is. That's the thing, when it comes to debates about decency, morality, nudity, it can have multiple interpretations. Like pornography itself. But we should be able to tolerate it, not based on legal rules," said Siti.

"So Komnas Perempuan hopes that this case will not be pursued, to stop it because, in any case, it would be unfair with a threat of up to 10 years. And we know that the pornography law itself, in its history of formulation, had lengthy debates," she continued.

2. Mandatory Report

Dinar Candy is now a suspect in a case of alleged pornography violation. She is scheduled by the police to do mandatory reporting.

Usually, mandatory reporting is done by suspects on Mondays and Thursdays every week, and it is done until the case file is complete and ready for trial.
