Not Long After Converting, Marcella Simon Shares Funny Experience While Learning Ngaji

It can't be denied that we all start to feel bored with this situation. That's also what Marcella feels, to the point that she dresses up completely for her first Eid preparation.

"Is there anyone who dresses up but doesn't go anywhere? Hahaha.. I'm starting to blink alone at home. I even tried on clothes that would be exciting for Eid, even though I don't know what I'm going to do on Eid. To make it look cheerful, I mix and match the first choice of Eid clothes with @altairascarves hijab in the color KONENG, made in the style of Brunei women to be trendy," Marcella wrote in the caption of her photo post.

1. Learn Ngaji by Yourself

As known, in September 2019, Marcella chose to convert to Islam. Therefore, this is her first Ramadan as a Muslim. She recently experienced a funny story.

"By the way, there was a funny incident. Because of COVID-19, learning was hindered. So, I learned Arabic letters by myself using YouTube and available books. I was encouraged because they said I might finish reciting the Quran by Eid. Haha.. Oh my.. I confidently sent a video pronouncing the letters a ba ta tsa, and then one of my friends said, 'You pronounced it correctly, but not like that. Those letters already have a line above, it's called fathaa, so it's da, not dal, and qo, not qoff'," she shared.

2. Feeling It's Not the Right Time

Marcella is indeed serious about strengthening her faith by diligently praying and learning ngaji. However, after trying it alone at home, she encountered many obstacles.

"Where did I go wrong? I learned from Arabic people's videos. TURNS OUT! The videos and the book are different. The videos don't use fathaa, but the book does. And I didn't realize it. She sighed, 'It's not the right time yet. Be patient,'" Marcella concluded.
