Not Understood by Family for Years, Oscar Lawalata Was Hurt

Kapanlagi.com - The journey of Oscar Lawalata to become a transgender person has many stories that have never been known by many people. If now he can be happy with a family that has fully accepted him, in the past Oscar admitted that he often felt hurt.

"If people see us, it seems harmonious, but the journey is not like that. There must be a process to get to know each other," said Oscar Lawalata in his latest video on his YouTube channel titled UNTOLD STORY OSCAR LAWALATA - Merdeka Diri!.

All the drama and conflicts that happened certainly hurt Oscar's heart. But deep down, Oscar knows that his family only wants the best for him.

1. Admitting Heartache

"But I internalize what comes out of their mouths, it's their honesty, even though it hurts for me. If heartache is measured, it will definitely hurt. Because fighting for myself alone is not that easy," said Oscar Lawalata.

Just like others who have different struggles, Oscar fights extra for his personality. Of course, it's not an easy thing, especially when it comes to transgender issues in Indonesia, which are still considered taboo.

2. What Makes Oscar Strong

Openly from the heart, Oscar finally reveals the reason why he can endure until now, "But what finally makes me strong and keeps me communicating with them is because I see that they love me, that's all I hold on to."

Although initially facing difficulties, Oscar never gives up and always tries to seek understanding from his family, especially his mother and siblings, Reggy and Mario Lawalata. "So, for those of us with special cases, we are also required to be smarter in communicating with people. Even if they are our parents and siblings," he added.

3. Just Realized 5 Years Ago

Previously, Oscar also admitted that he had identified himself as a transgender since he was a child. In fact, this accomplished designer has had a feminine appearance since early on.

"I knew I was transgender from a young age. After studying myself for about 5 years, I realized that I am transgender," he concluded.
