Official! Indonesia Becomes Host of the U-17 World Cup in November - Will It Replace Coldplay's Concert?

Indonesia was previously appointed as the host of the U-20 World Cup, but the event was eventually canceled due to opposition from certain groups due to Israel's participation.

However, the disappointment will soon be healed as FIFA has appointed Indonesia as the host of the U-17 World Cup, which will be held at the end of 2023.

The U-17 World Cup 2023 was originally scheduled to take place in Peru. However, the South American country withdrew due to infrastructure unpreparedness.

The grand football event will take place from November 10 to December 2. However, this good news leaves many concerns.

As many already know, the U-17 World Cup date coincides with Coldplay's concert agenda, which will be held on November 15.

Although these two grand agendas have the same time, it is not yet known whether the implementation will be in accordance with the initial schedule or there will be changes after Indonesia was appointed as the host.

Despite the U-17 World Cup and Coldplay's concert agenda coinciding, this good news is welcomed with joy by Erick Thohir.

"I can only express gratitude and Alhamdulillah, because the FIFA Council has made a joint decision to appoint Indonesia as the host of the U-17 World Cup this year. This is one form of world trust in Indonesia under the leadership of President Joko Widodo," he said as quoted from Liputan6 (24/6).

"I have not received an official notification letter yet. This is only an announcement reported by FIFA. Now, what is important is how we prepare ourselves to be a good host," continued Erick Thohir.

Although they failed to host the U-20 World Cup, the new mandate from FIFA is optimistic that it can be carried out considering that Israel is not participating.
