Open Letter from Didi Riyadi to Jokowi, Rejecting the Extension of PPKM and Receiving Support from Artist Friends

"Without diminishing respect, allow me to express an opinion related to the current situation, especially regarding the discourse of extending Emergency PPKM. After I reviewed it based on secondary data, namely news from various media, social media, and primary data through observation and interaction with several segments of society, including the crew who usually work with me, then as one of the people who have been affected since the beginning of the outbreak, I have the following opinion," Didi wrote in one of his statements.

He then continued, "Rejecting the extension of Emergency PPKM in Java & Bali. Reason: It's simple, sir, it's definitely affecting many people, especially in terms of livelihood, many cannot work, cannot support their families. The fact is: Since the beginning of the pandemic until now, many businesses have closed down, employees have been laid off, and artists and musicians can no longer perform. Apparently, PSBB, PPKM, or similar measures have not been able to curb the spread of Covid-19."

Another reason, Didi also added, "Extending the Emergency PPKM will not be able to solve the pandemic, the choices are like a double-edged sword, dying because of the pandemic or dying of starvation."
