Portrait of Jefri Nichol Training Harder Ahead of Rematch Against El Rumi, Admits He Has Quit Smoking

Actor Jefri Nichol is fully prepared to face the rematch against El Rumi in the Superstar Knockout: King Of The Ring event that will be held on August 9, 2025, at JCC Senayan, Central Jakarta. This fight will be a moment of proof for Nichol after losing to El in their first match in 2023.

Not wanting to repeat the same result, Jefri Nichol has started to improve his lifestyle and tighten his training regimen. He even admitted to having quit smoking to maintain his performance and stamina. Check out the full story below!

"For the preparation, I started training with Coach Hendri, with Coach Max Matthew as well, stopped smoking, stopped everything," said Jefri Nichol when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/6/2025).

Nichol feels that the result from the first fight was unsatisfactory because neither of them managed to knock down their opponent. Therefore, he intends to appear more aggressive and sharp in the ring.

"Because no one got knocked out yesterday, I expected at least one of us to be knocked out in the ring during the fight yesterday," he said.

In addition to physical training, Jefri is also improving his fighting technique. He realizes that in the previous match, many punches failed to hit the target effectively. This has now become the main focus of his training.

"Yesterday there were indeed many punches that didn't land, but it didn't feel like anything. They just stuck," said the actor from the movie Dear Nathan.

Even though he previously lost on points, Jefri feels that physically he was not pressured during the match. This actually became the trigger for his spirit to perform more fiercely in the rematch later.   "I came out clean yesterday," he asserted, emphasizing that his face was almost without wounds after the duel.

On the other hand, El Rumi is also not staying still. He is known to be undergoing intensive training, including strength training and punch endurance. Both are eager to prove themselves as the best boxers among celebrities.   "I've started getting hit with a tire now," said El when met at the same location.
