Yes, their relationship is indeed quite unique. It started with Zaskia Adya Mecca feeling uncomfortable during the filming of Ayat-ayat Cinta (2008), and she vowed to make Hanung fall in love with her.

"When I arrived at the location, everyone was against me. When the actors arrived, they were greeted, engaged in conversation, but when I arrived at the location, it was uncomfortable. Mas Hanung didn't want to greet me, the casting people looked annoyed. The whole crew treated me like they didn't like me," said Zaskia on The Sungkars Family's Youtube channel.

At that time, Zaskia, who was always accompanied by her cousin during shooting locations, swore. "I will make him fall in love with me. Just wait, after this shooting ends," she said.

Later it was known that Zaskia's involvement in the movie Ayat-ayat Cinta was forced. Ayat-ayat Cinta producer, Manoj Punjabi, forced Hanung to involve Zaskia in the movie with a letter signed by Din Syamsuddin, Aa Gym, and Yusuf Mansur.

Apparently, the letter was made by Zaskia's mother who wanted her daughter to play in the movie. The reason was because Zaskia was already wearing a hijab, and she should be playing in a movie with an Islamic theme.

Zaskia and Hanung's relationship started to get closer after Ayat-ayat Cinta did a promotional roadshow to the taklim assembly. But at that time, it was known that Zaskia was already in a relationship with another man.

Hanung, who began to fall in love, was reluctant to give up. For two years, he continued to approach Zaskia even though he knew that his beloved was still dating someone else. 

Until finally, Hanung's efforts paid off. Zaskia melted, they fell in love and continued to the marriage stage, and now they have 6 children.
