NiziU is a girl group consisting of 9 girls from Japan formed through the survival program Nizi Project, a collaboration between JYP Entertainment (Korea) and Sony Music Japan. This is the first Japanese girl group managed by JYP, part of their 'K-Pop 3.0' vision.

The name NiziU is derived from the Japanese word 'niji' which means rainbow, with the letter 'U' symbolizing you (the fans). The philosophy is that the different members unite like a rainbow shining together with the support of the fans. Their official fandom is called WithU.

This group officially debuted in Japan on December 2, 2020, with the single 'Step and a Step'. Interestingly, even before their debut, NiziU had already caught attention with the pre-debut album 'Make You Happy' released on June 30, 2020.

The song 'Make You Happy' exploded in the market, ranking #2 on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 and even entering the Top 100 Billboard Global (No.84 Global Excl. US). In 15 weeks, this cheerful song has been streamed over 100 million times, a record that solidifies NiziU as the fastest female artist to achieve this milestone in Japan.

In the following years, NiziU continued to produce hits like 'Take a Picture', 'Chopstick', 'Clap Clap', and their first full album 'U' (2021), while sweeping the Best New Artist award at the Gold Disc Award 2021.
