Raffi Ahmad feels a greater responsibility to correct the slander that has been directed at him recently. This is related to the new mandate he carries as the Special Envoy of the President.
Previously, Raffi tended to be relaxed when faced with issues of money laundering or other negative news. However, his status as a public official now requires him to be more assertive in maintaining integrity in the eyes of the public.
Raffi does not want the issue of electronic goods smuggling that involves his name to become a wild ball that harms government institutions. He has also teamed up with Hotman Paris to provide a legal explanation.
"What I mean is that maybe I was relaxed because I was not or had not been given the mandate as the President's Special Envoy. Now, because of this mandate, it feels like if something wild comes to me or to the institution that I have been given this mandate, it becomes a wild ball, I feel like I need to straighten out this entire incorrect matter," said Raffi Ahmad when met in the Wijaya area, South Jakarta, Thursday (6/11/2026).
Raffi recounted the chronology of his brief meeting with the Blueray party in New York that became the root of the problem. He emphasized that there was not a single transaction that occurred between him and that party.
Although he was offered various latest electronic products, Raffi declined the offer. For him, the conversation in front of the store was nothing more than a greeting to fans.
"'Mas Raffi, our company Blueray can send anything. Whether it's a mobile phone, a laptop, an iPad, this, or that.' That's all there is to it. Basically, I was just making small talk," explained Raffi Ahmad.
He admitted to having consulted with the palace and the leadership of the DPR regarding the steps to be taken. Raffi wants to ensure that his name is clear of any allegations of illegal import criminal actions.
"If I want to clarify, I must clarify it correctly and truthfully," asserted Raffi Ahmad.
