Rieke Diah Pitaloka Attends the Funeral of Affan Kurniawan, Urges Case to be Thoroughly Investigated

Artist and member of the Indonesian Parliament, Rieke Diah Pitaloka, was seen at the Karet Bivak Public Cemetery in Jakarta on Friday (29/8/2025). She came to accompany the family of the late Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver who died after being run over by a Brimob armored vehicle.

"Alhamdulillah the burial has been completed, it went smoothly. Here I am with Affan's grandfather. Does Grandpa have anything to say?" said Rieke Diah Pitaloka at TPU Karet Bivak, Central Jakarta, on Friday (29/8/2025).

Affan Kurniawan's grandfather then conveyed a message that this case should not be left unattended.

He emphasized that the family of the deceased has come to terms with it, but still demands that justice be served.

"We, as a family, have essentially accepted it, but the law must still be upheld. That is our family's hope," said the grandfather.

Rieke added that Affan's death should not be in vain. She urged law enforcement officials and President Prabowo Subianto to take immediate action to evaluate the performance of the police.

"With Affan's passing, we certainly urge for a thorough investigation and we also support President Prabowo to have the courage to evaluate the Indonesian National Police," said Rieke.

According to him, the struggle of the ride-hailing drivers is still long and must continue. He invites all ride-hailing drivers in Indonesia to remain calm and control their emotions.

"Therefore, I invite my fellow ride-hailing drivers across Indonesia to control your emotions, remember you also have families. Our struggle is still long, we will not let Affan's death be in vain," he said.
