Ringgo Agus Rahman is once again trusted to portray a father figure in his latest film titled ESOK TANPA IBU (Mothernet). In this film, Ringgo faces the challenge of playing a father who has a strained relationship and difficult communication with his son, especially after his wife falls into a coma.

This role has a personal impact on the father of two. Ringgo admits that he has gained many valuable lessons that he can apply in his real life as a parent. He reflects on the parenting style and communication that exists in his family.

"There was once. I reflected, the form of warmth is different, right? It's not always like in the movies. Including how different I am with my child, I am very different with my dad," he said when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Monday (01/19/2025).

Ringgo realizes the cultural shift or generational gap in expressing affection. He feels that the current generation is more open in expressing feelings compared to his parents' generation.

"It's like saying 'I love you', I find it easier to express that to my child now because the generation is different," continued Ringgo.

This man, born in 1982, also highlights the differences in "love languages" across generations. For his father's generation, physical presence and eating together are already an extraordinary form of love, even without many sweet words.

"For my father's generation, as long as we are okay, eating together, that is already an extraordinary form. The love language is different," he said.

This film serves as a reminder for Ringgo that the relationship between a father and child does not always go smoothly. He realizes that someday, he might face the same awkward phase when his children reach their teenage years.

"So in this film, it's a reminder that it doesn't mean I will always be fine with my child. I might experience the same awkwardness when my child is a teenager," he concluded.

As he begins to spiral down, Rama finds unexpected help in i-BU: an AI created by his friend that allows Rama to see his mother's face, hear her voice, and even use the AI as a tool to stimulate his mother's brain activity. Can Rama cure his loneliness and heal his mother with the help of AI? The film ESOK TANPA IBU (Mothernet) will be released in theaters starting January 22, 2026.
