Roger Danuarta's Story Living with In-Laws, Feeling Awkward on the First Night

Roger Danuarta has an unforgettable memory when he just got married to Cut Meyriska on August 17, 2019.

Like most men in Indonesia, he also experienced living with his in-laws for a few months.

According to Roger, that experience greatly helped him embody his latest film titled ADA MERTUA DI RUMAHKU (There's a Mother-in-Law at My House).

In the comedy drama film, Roger acted alongside his own wife, Cut Meyriska.

"Of course, we tried to play this role as naturally as possible. We used the references we had, remembering the awkwardness towards the in-laws, especially when we just got married. The awkwardness and discomfort towards the in-laws, I poured into this film, especially when presented with comedy, it becomes a special memory," said Roger Danuarta at the Falcon Pictures office, Jakarta, on Monday (10/1/2022).

"Indeed, we lived with our parents at the beginning of our marriage. But only for a month or two. My mom came to Jakarta because she wanted to be close to us at that time," said Cut Meyriska in response.

Roger further explained that there is one scene in the film that is almost similar to his own experience, which is about the wedding night.

"First night," said Roger Danuarta while blushing and immediately interrupted by Cut Meyriska.

"Honestly, we never had a honeymoon. So every time we go out or vacation, my parents always come along. So they know all our activities," said Cut Meyriska while laughing.

THERE ARE IN-LAWS IN MY HOUSE tells the story of the married life of Irfan (Roger Danuarta) and Nirmala (Cut Meyriska) when they were newly married.

Nirmala, is said to have a biological father named Bambang (Rano Karno) who has many annoying traits. 

One day, Nirmala got a work assignment out of town, so Irfan had to live together with Bambang.  

When Irfan and Bambang live together, there are many interesting and tickling incidents that will stir up the emotions of the audience.

"This film is very light, very entertaining, and has many messages that can be taken," said Roger Danuarta.

The premiere of the film ADA MERTUA DI RUMAHKU is planned to be held on January 14, 2022, on the KlikFilm platform.
