Roy Marten Reveals His Biggest Dream in Old Age That Has Yet to Be Realized

Senior actor Roy Marten revealed a dream that he has yet to fulfill in his old age. Roy expressed a strong desire to vacation regularly with his family, but the schedules of each family member make it difficult to achieve.

According to Roy, he feels very grateful even if he can only meet his children and grandchildren three to four times a year.

"I am busy, Gading is busy, Gempinya is also busy. Coordinating my schedule with theirs is somewhat rare," he said when met in the Mampang area, South Jakarta, on Friday (23/5/2025).

Family gatherings usually only happen during major occasions like birthdays or Christmas. Roy refers to these opportunities to gather as 'extraordinary luxuries'.

"It's my birthday, Gading's birthday, or Christmas. But regular days are very difficult," he added. Nevertheless, Roy does not blame the situation and remains grateful for those rare moments.

For Roy, family closeness is the main source of happiness. He mentioned that as someone enters old age, things like this become much more meaningful.

"Yes, when you're old like me, happiness is actually close to family," he said. He feels that seeing children and grandchildren interacting is one of the tangible forms of God's love.

Although the desire for a vacation together has not yet been realized, Roy admits he is already content with what he has at the moment. He understands that each family member has their own responsibilities.

"I understand because the children have their own responsibilities, they have their own struggles, my grandchildren are the same," he said with full understanding.

Roy mentioned that he is always grateful because he still has the opportunity to gather even if it is not often. According to him, that sense of gratitude is the key to enjoying old age in peace.
