Ruben Onsu Reveals Reason for Not Shaving His Beard While in Makkah

Ruben Onsu's appearance looked different when he arrived in Jakarta after performing umrah. The famous presenter seemed to let his beard grow thicker compared to his usual appearance on screen.

Ruben explained that his facial hair grows quite fast. However, during his time in the Holy Land, he intentionally did not shave his beard to be more focused on performing worship.

"Yeah, I haven't shaved for three days and it's already like this. It's already a lot, but since this is umrah, I figured I might as well not shave it, I’ll just shave again when I get home," said Ruben Onsu when met at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

Although his appearance has become a topic of discussion, Ruben emphasizes that he has no intention of changing his style or look. He admits that he will shave his beard again once he gets home.

"No, just normal. Later when I get home, I'll shave again. It's just because over there, the time is really tight, you know. No, no. Just change it up a bit, and then let it be so it won't keep making that (shaving sound)," he said.

Aside from changes in appearance, Ruben also expresses great gratitude for being given health during his fourth pilgrimage for Umrah.

According to him, health is the greatest blessing that allows him to complete all the rituals smoothly.

"All touching moments. For me, being able to depart again, being given health again has made me so moved, you know," he said.

"Allah has given me health again, a long life again to be able to go there again, masya Allah. And there, that has always been one of my ways to be grateful for what Allah has given," he continued.
