Bang Ipul, Saipul's nickname, served a prison sentence of 5 years and 7 months for cases of indecency and bribery that he committed.
In prison, he had thought of ending his life. This was because he was shocked as going to prison was a new experience for him.
"I have experienced it (wanting to commit suicide), it happened when Papi (Saipul Jamil) was first detained by the Police, oh my God," said Saipul Jamil.
"Imagine, we used to live freely, going anywhere in our house, suddenly we have to enter a room, be detained, gather with people who are in the same situation as us, sitting like this, unable to sleep. Imagine, Papi used to sleep with a pillow," explained Bang Ipul.
In addition, the confinement room occupied by Saipul was also filled with 7 people. "There are seven people in one room," said Saipul Jamil.
Saipul Jamil was initially named a suspect in a sexual assault case and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. He appealed to the High Court in Jakarta, which actually increased his sentence to 5 years and 7 months.
After serving a pure free sentence, she officially breathed the free air from the Class 1 Cipinang Prison Area, East Jakarta on September 2, 2021.
