Sarwendah Does Not Attend Divorce Hearing Again, Court Asserts Ruben Onsu Can Quickly Obtain Widow Status

Kapanlagi.com - Sarwendah Tan was once again absent, or represented by a legal counsel at the divorce hearing filed by her husband, Ruben Onsu. This is the third divorce hearing held at the South Jakarta District Court with a mediation agenda.

Meanwhile, the plaintiff, Ruben Onsu, was only represented by his legal counsel. Therefore, the hearing was quickly held again due to the absence of the defendant.

Tumpanuli Marbun, as the Public Relations of the South Jakarta District Court, stated that this was the last mediation agenda in their divorce proceedings. Moreover, the court had also made efforts to summon Sarwendah as the defendant.

"After we inquired with the panel of judges regarding the case, it turns out the defendant did not attend the hearing even though she had been duly summoned," he said, Tuesday (13/8/2024).

1. The Hearing Will Be Held Again

Nevertheless, the hearing will continue with the next agenda. The trial will be held again next week with the agenda of proof.

"Since the defendant is absent, the case will continue without the presence of the defendant. So the next hearing, which is next week on the 20th, will focus on the proof from the plaintiff's side," he said.

2. Will Speed Up the Trial

The court itself does not have an issue with Sarwendah's absence in the trial. In fact, this could speed up the trial process.

"Yes, for sure there will be no more answers, no more rebuttals, or duplicates, and the proof will only be one-sided, only the plaintiff's proof, while the defendant will not be there to defend their interests," he explained.

3. The Status of Sarwendah and Ruben Will Change

Therefore, in a few upcoming agendas, Marbun emphasized that the trial could soon be decided. Certainly, the status of Ruben and Sarwendah will change and they will no longer be husband and wife.

"So if in a normal timeframe, if the defendant is present, it will definitely go through the mediation process, if the mediation fails, then there will be responses, responses, rebuttals, then evidence presentation, conclusions, and finally a decision," he concluded.
