Selfi Yamma Admits Being Asked for Help by a Friend to Promote a Fake Instagram Account

Kapanlagi.com - A few hours ago, the champion of the first season of Indonesian Dangdut League, Selfi Yamma, appeared to upload an endorsement for a phone auction from the Instagram account @ratu_gedgetseluler at a very cheap price. At least for the cheapest smartphone, it is usually priced above Rp 1.5 million, so the price below that is unreasonable.

Afterwards, it didn't take long for the promotion to be revealed as a scam. Selfi Yamma himself, upon realizing this, immediately deleted the promotional upload.

"Oh yeah, I just remembered, I've taken it down. I just posted it because I didn't know, suddenly it appeared and I just accepted it," said Selfi Yamma when contacted by Kapanlagi.com via phone call on Wednesday afternoon.

"I was skeptical at first, but then the person sent their ID card and certificate. Eventually, I just believed it," he continued.

1. Friend's Request

The 21-year-old dangdut singer then explained the chronology of the incident. She mentioned that it started with a friend's request asking for her help to promote the scam Instagram account.

"From a friend, they asked for my help. So I agreed, but it turned out to be a scam, so I immediately took it down. (I knew it was a scam) My manager informed Kapanlagi.com's team, and when I found out, I took it down right away because I was afraid there might be victims. But then someone messaged me saying that they were fooled," she said.

2. Victimized

Apparently, the promotion has already victimized someone who admitted to being lured by the cheap prices offered by the @ratu_gedgetseluler account. Feeling guilty, Selfi tried to explain and take responsibility for what the victim experienced as much as possible.

"I tried to talk to the victim, I asked for a video call but they refused, 'what should I do?' I said, but fortunately, they were okay maybe because they lost their money, they just sent me a DM," she concluded.
