"Laura wants to try being independent, to feel the harshness of the world," he said when met in the Wijaya area, South Jakarta, Friday (10/4/2024).
According to Edwin, the decision to let Lolly be alone after returning from England is not a form of neglect. He describes it as an effort to educate Lolly.
"If you say it's neglect, this is our way of giving Laura a chance to try independence," he explained.
"This world is not sweet, you know, if we hold it like sand, the more we grasp it, you will still slip away, dear," he added.
This message was conveyed by Edwin to emphasize that Lolly must be ready to face the realities of life. Although freedom is given, the family continues to watch over Lolly from a distance. Edwin even conveyed a profound message while singing the song Last Child.
"This world will step on you very hard, dear," he said seriously.
Edwin also reminded Lolly that if a small scolding can break her heart, a harsher world will be much more challenging.
"So when it's said that neglecting is not neglecting. It's a form of parents fulfilling their children's desires," he emphasized.
