Sonny Septian Says His Mother Became Conscious After the Family Had Let Go: God Gives Another Chance to Be Together with Mom

"Mom has been sick for 15 years. She was once given only 2 years to live, but thank God she was able to get through everything," Sonny Septian said after the burial of Waty Siregar at TPU Karet Bivak, Jakarta, on Sunday (29/9/2024).

Before passing away, Waty Siregar was briefly unconscious. At that moment, Sonny's extended family had begun to accept the departure of their mother.

"Just because mom was unconscious, rather than having her live only with assistance, we finally decided not to use a ventilator. It was also the first time I said, 'Mom, Sonny accepts it,'" he said.

"It's okay if that can make mom comfortable and relieve her pain. All this time, I have never accepted that mom was sick. I always wanted mom to recover, to live long until 100 years old," he continued.

After expressing their acceptance, family members who were not at the hospital joined a video call to say their final goodbyes to Waty Siregar. However, a surprise occurred. The mother, who had previously been unconscious, suddenly opened her eyes and regained consciousness.  

"Everyone eventually said the same thing one by one. Until the video call with my sister in Sukabumi, everyone had accepted it. Suddenly, mom opened her eyes. Mom woke up, she was better again. We were shocked, yes MasyaAllah tabarakallah, it means Allah gave us another chance to be with mom. That's what we were thinking," explained Sonny Septian.

On that Saturday, Sonny and his family spent time at the hospital to accompany Waty. In fact, the atmosphere that was previously filled with sadness turned warm. Waty seemed to recover and was able to talk and joke with the family, especially her grandchildren.

"On that Saturday, Fairuz and I had just come back from the doctor, for a check-up, I went to the hospital. There were other siblings there. I spent the weekend, on a date at the hospital with mom," said Sonny Septian.

However, the hope to be with his mother for a longer time was shattered when Sonny received a call from the hospital after the Subuh prayer, informing him that his mother had passed away.
