When met in West Jakarta recently, Retta revealed that it all started when she adopted three different types of Sugar Gliders. Over time, her collection has grown to 58 sugar gliders, some of which are considered rare.

Retta admitted that she was initially overwhelmed in taking care of her many sugar gliders. However, she started to adapt and when she saw that there was a high demand for this exotic animal, she thought of breeding her sugar gliders to make a profit.

She named her business @GliderAngels, which not only offers various types of sugar gliders but also sells various products for their needs.

"At first, it was definitely overwhelming because there were so many, and I had to take care of them all by myself. Then I thought, 'why not turn it into a business? There are many people interested in it.' That's when I started @GliderAngels, which is not only open for adoption but also sells various premium products for Sugar Gliders. There are pouches, travel bags, cages, and others," Retta said.

1. Starting From Hundreds of Thousands to Tens of Millions

Retta also explained that her business is indeed focused on selling unique types of Sugar Gliders. As for the price, sugar gliders are priced starting from hundreds of thousands of rupiah, and some can even reach tens of millions, depending on genetics and uniqueness.

"I focus on selling unique types of Sugar Gliders, and now there are types like pied bald, paradox flip flop, paradox heterochromia, caramino, caramino mosaic, white mosaic, true platinum mosaic, marble mosaic, platinum, platinum mosaic, creamino, creamino mosaic, ruby leucistic, leucistic, albino, white face mosaic, classic grey, and many others," she said.

"The actual prices vary depending on their uniqueness and genetics. Starting from hundreds of thousands, and the most expensive ones can reach tens of millions for one sugar glider," she continued.

Although using his beloved pets as a business venture, Retta still prioritizes the welfare of each Sugar Glider that will be adopted by his customers. This must be taken into consideration because he believes that as pets, Sugar Gliders also have feelings.

"They are not money-making machines, they still need love, they need to be cared for with heart. Not only kept in cages and given food, but their comfort must also be considered. They also need to be played with," he explained.

In addition, Retta also advises anyone who wants to adopt these cute and smart animals not to be tempted by cheap prices. It doesn't matter if it's a bit expensive because it matches the quality.

"Be careful when adopting, sometimes there are cases of inbreeding like incestuous marriages, resulting in disabilities and poor health, or feeding them with whatever is available to reduce costs because they only want to profit but the quality is not guaranteed. It's really sad, they should be able to live for more than ten years," he concluded.
