The melaspas ritual is a ceremony of cleansing and purifying a newly constructed or occupied building. This building can include houses, offices, shops, or barns.
The word 'melaspas' comes from the Balinese language, which consists of two words, 'Mlas' and 'Pas'. 'Mlas' means separator and 'pas' means suitable. The ceremony is led by a religious leader or 'pedanda'.
For Hindus, this ceremony is mandatory and has become a hereditary tradition until now. Various types of offerings are needed for this ceremony: fruits, leaves, cakes, and various types of meat.
This ceremony is held to make the residents of the building feel safe and peaceful. It is also believed that this ceremony can make the occupants feel comfortable and protected from unwanted things (sickness, wastefulness, anger, and quarrels).
Seeing Shanty performing the 'melaspas' ceremony, some netizens asked if Shanty had converted to another religion. Previously, it was known that the owner of the name Annissa Nurul Shanty Kusuma Wardhani Heryadie is a follower of Islam.
Shanty did not respond to the netizen's question. She only hopes that by performing a house blessing ceremony, her house will be blessed with safety, love, abundance of happiness, and blessings.
"Melaspas ceremony of home. May this house be blessed with safety, love, protection, abundance, happiness, and blessings. Amen," Shanty wrote in the caption of her post on Wednesday (24/08).
In Bali, Shanty chose a very beautiful house. With a tropical feel like a luxurious villa, Shanty's house is equipped with a pool and a luxurious modern kitchen.
Born in Jakarta on December 30, 1978, this artist chose to live in Bali without appearing to be accompanied by her husband, Sebastian Paredes. The name Paredes has also disappeared from Shanty's Instagram account.
Until now, it is not known for certain about the relationship status of Shanty and Sebastian Paredes who got married in 2010. Hopefully, all problems can be resolved peacefully.
