Sue Gen Halilintar's Family for 9.5 Billion, Nagaswara: It's Not About the Money

As quoted from the official website of the Central Jakarta District Court, Nagaswara demands that Gen Halilintar's family must pay a fine and compensation for alleged copyright infringement totaling IDR 9.5 billion.

1. Give Deterrent Effect

According to Yos Mulyadi, as Nagaswara's legal representative, it is not primarily about money. However, his client's lawsuit is more aimed at giving a deterrent effect to copyright infringers.

"Basically, this is about moral rights. One of the issues is about changing the lyrics, and the license is clear, without permission. What we are concerned about is the legal aspect of protecting copyright. So this is about protecting the copyright," said Yos Mulyadi at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (19/2).

"If asked about money or the purpose, the first one is moral loss, which is difficult to measure with money. So it's hard for us to say whether that amount represents moral loss or not. But we have to convert it into legal terms. However, that is not the main goal, the main goal is the protection of copyright," he continued.

As is known, the issue of Nagaswara's lawsuit began when the Gen Halilintar family sang and changed the lyrics of the song Lagi Syantik popularized by Siti Badriah without permission. They then uploaded it on YouTube.
