Tasya Farasya Surprised Ahmad Assegaf Filed an Appeal One Day Before Final Divorce Decision

"It turns out that yesterday, just yesterday, we received an update from the Religious Court, I received a notification that this Defendant has indeed filed an appeal. It should have been finalized (having permanent legal force) today, but because of the appeal yesterday, the process is still ongoing," said Sangun Ragahdo when met in South Jakarta, Thursday (27/11).

Tasya's legal team admitted to being quite surprised by this appeal. This is because, in the divorce lawsuit, Tasya Farasya did not demand many things that would burden her ex-husband, such as joint assets or excessive alimony. Even the custody of the child was reported to have been agreed upon beforehand.

Mohammad Fattah Riphat, who is also Tasya's legal counsel, questioned the reasons behind the appeal. According to him, his client has accepted the situation and wants to resolve this matter quickly so that she can move on with her life. However, with the appeal, the trial process is sure to take even longer.

"So actually the appeal is essentially an attempt to legally contest the decision, meaning that the one making the appeal 'disagrees' with the ruling. Meanwhile, if you look at the ruling, Tasya didn’t ask for anything. Didn’t ask for alimony, didn’t ask for anything. Custody of the child was also agreed upon. So what is there to disagree with? Is this what is going to be disputed?" said Mohammad Fattah Riphat.

Tasya's side is now in a position to wait for the appeal memory from Ahmad's side to understand what points of objection are being raised. Ragahdo emphasized that they are ready to face this further legal process and will prepare a counter appeal memory as soon as the documents are received.

"Just with the existence of this appeal that we received yesterday, we were quite surprised. Because this appeal was filed by the Defendant one day before the ruling became final. In fact, there is a 14-day period for this," added Sangun Ragahdo.

Until now, there has been no direct communication between Tasya and Ahmad after the appeal was submitted. The legal team emphasized that they will follow the legal procedures applicable in the South Jakarta Religious Court.
