Based on the story of PADI, Teater Koma presents a performance titled Goro-Goro: Mahabarata 2 from July 25th to August 4th, 2019 at Graha Bhakti Budaya, Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta.

Batara Guru, played by Slamet Rahardjo, cursed Dewi Lokawati and turned her into padi (rice). The padi plant was then given to the kingdom of Medangkamulyan. Thanks to its blessings, the padi grew abundantly until harvest.

Seeing this, the Kingdom of Sonyantaka, which was hit by a long drought, then planned to steal rice in Medangkamulyan.

The story of rice became the main focus in the play Goro-Goro: Mahabarata 2, as seen during the performance of Teater Koma supported by Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation on Wednesday (24/7/2019) at Graha Bhakti Budaya, TIM, Jakarta.

"Every country's armed forces can be strong, but if humans do not eat rice or wheat, what is the meaning of the armed forces? Surely they will also be weak," said Nano Riantiarno, the director and scriptwriter of this performance.

The role of Semar and Togog, who were ordered to descend to Marcapada (Earth) by their father, Hyang Tunggal, the First God, became a classic story. Semar, accompanied by his three children: Petruk, Gareng, and Bagong, became the caretakers or panakawan of King Medangkamulyan.

Togog is accompanied by Bilung or Sarahita in serving the evil King Sonyantaka (Bukbangkala), despite Togog's opposition to the king's policies or actions as the royal advisor.

In less than 3 hours, the 158th production of Teater Koma successfully weaves the story of Mahabharata, about power struggles, to Togog's message of love: "Anyone who plants and nurtures rice with love will not go hungry."
