Tessa Kaunang finally speaks out regarding her photo that was edited and uploaded by her ex-husband, Sandi Tumiwa, on social media. The actress of Manado descent feels that the post has created a misleading perception among the public.

Through her legal team, Tessa expressed her objection to the photo that has been altered without her consent. This issue has now become a point of attention as it touches on personal privacy and beliefs.

Sunan Kalijaga, as her legal representative, explained that his client feels harmed by the post. He argues that the circulated photo does not match the original photo owned by Tessa.

"What is considered, felt by our client Ms. Tessa Kaunang, is already disturbing. Disturbing and not in accordance with the original," said Sunan Kalijaga when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (9/6/2026).

The background of this polemic began when an old photo of Tessa and Sandi circulated on Instagram. In the post, Tessa's face appeared wearing a hijab that was digitally edited.

This situation has raised various questions from netizens. Some even suspect that Tessa has converted to a different faith because of the appearance of the circulating photo.

"Praying, but in the end, many are steering public opinion to think negatively about my response, which might lead them to believe I have converted or something. Well, this is a matter of belief," said Tessa Kaunang.

The mother of the two children emphasized that issues of belief are sensitive matters that should not be made public without permission. Therefore, she chose to take the official route through her legal representative.

Tessa also expressed her surprise as to why she is being linked again with her ex-husband after more than a decade apart. According to her, each party has their own life now.

"So I am very sensitive, that should not be played with. I also have a happy life with my children until now, like that," she said.
