The Cook in the Straw Hat Crew, Here are Interesting Facts About Sanji from 'ONE PIECE' with a Very Tragic Past

Sanji's full name is Vinsmoke Sanji. In the Straw Hat Pirates crew, Sanji is a cook. He loves seafood pasta very much. As a chef, Sanji only sleeps for 5 hours. He goes to bed at 12 and wakes up at 5 to cook breakfast for the crew.

Sanji is a prince from the Germa Kingdom. His father, Vinsmoke Judge, is a very strong and famous commander of Germa 66 in the Underworld. Sanji also has four siblings, 3 brothers and one sister. 

Since childhood, Sanji, who is emotional and loves cooking very much, was called a failure by his father. Eventually, he was locked up and his head was restrained using an iron helmet. His sister, Reiju, helped Sanji to escape.

After escaping, Sanji met Zeff and they both were stranded on an island. Sanji, who was rescued by Zeff, considers Zeff as his adoptive father and mentor in the culinary world. 

Zeff also taught Sanji the art of cooking and fighting using his legs. As a chef, he has a very strong principle, using his hands only for cooking, so he can fight using only his legs.

Another principle that Sanji firmly holds is that he will never hurt a woman, even if the woman is an enemy; he would rather die or be killed than harm a woman. That is why, when he encounters Black Maria, he screams for help from Nico Robin to save him.

Besides his love for women, it can be said that Sanji is also a bit perverted. He really wants to have the power to disappear so he can peek at women. And he finally got that when Germa gave him the raid suit, Stealth Black, which allows him to become invisible.

Having been sent to the Kamabakka Kingdom led by Ivankov, Sanji became even more sensitive towards women. The first time he appeared after the timeskip, Sanji even had a nosebleed when he saw Nami and Robin for the first time. In fact, he turned to stone when he saw Boa Hancock from a distance, even though Hancock did not use her powers.

Sanji's fighting style uses his legs. Because of this ability, he earned the nickname Black Leg, or Kuro Ashi in Japanese. One famous technique is Diable Jambe, where Sanji can produce fire from his legs. According to Eiichiro Oda, Sanji can create fire because of his "burning passion". 

Sanji is a loyal crew member, although he once left and betrayed Luffy; he did this so that Germa and Big Mom would not attack the Straw Hat Pirates. However, Sanji eventually returned to the Straw Hat Pirates after Luffy went to find him. 

Sanji's super genetic powers gradually began to awaken when he fought Queen, the third strongest member of the Beast Pirates. The emergence of this power was likely triggered by the use of his Raid Suit. This also made Sanji fearful, as he did not want to become a monster like Germa 66.
