"Actually, we didn't play together back then, we just knew each other because we both joined the same dance club. Dicky was still a junior, I was the senior," said Rangga when met in the area of Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang, South Jakarta, on Monday (10/2/2025).
1. Dicky's Process of Joining SM*SH
Dicky added that they often met at various dance competitions in Bandung. "But we often meet at competitions and dance groups in Bandung," he revealed.
The process of joining SM*SH also has an interesting story. Dicky revealed that he once auditioned as a dancer for Cinta Laura.
"I participated in a dance audition in Bandung, but it turned out that the management saw potential. In the end, I was brought to Jakarta and offered, 'do you want to be in a boy group?'" he said.
2. Rangga Goes Through the Shortest Process

Rangga himself joined at the last moments before SM*SH's debut. "I was chosen two weeks before the debut. I replaced two members who had previously left. So, the process for me and Rafael was the shortest, only two weeks before the debut. So it was really rushed to memorize the choreography and re-record," Rangga explained.
Although he had just joined, both Rangga and Dicky underwent a fairly quick adaptation process. Their debut went viral among Indonesian music fans.
"In Bandung, we first performed at a TV music event and it exploded from there," added Rangga.
