The Inspirational Story of Yuni Shara & Her School that Starts Implementing Cross-Subsidies, Mutual Assistance for Obtaining Proper Education for All

Kapanlagi.com - Yuni Shara will implement cross-subsidies for the costs of students at her school in Batu, East Java. Because students who are learning are increasingly diverse from various backgrounds, even though it was originally intended for the less fortunate.

"Initially for children who cannot afford school, but it turns out that the students include the mayor's child, the child of an official. If, for example, I charge a high price, it doesn't fit," said Yuni Shara in Batu, Monday (11/5).

"This school will eventually implement cross-subsidies, where those who can afford it can pay for those who cannot. Because the facilities already allow for it," she continued.

1. Occupying Own Building

Yuni celebrated her 18th birthday, as well as the PAUD and TK under her foundation, Cahaya Permata Abadi. The simple and limited celebration was also a thanksgiving for occupying a new building on Jalan Imam Bonjol Kota Batu.

The school previously occupied a rented house for 10 years on Jalan Samadi Kota Batu. But now, they have their own building that is more representative.

"Alhamdulillah everything can happen like this, it's not perfect yet but it will slowly progress. But we had to move because the lease was up, there was no choice. So we made it as simple as possible," she said with a smile.

2. Many Parties Involved

The new building of Cahaya Permata Abadi school began construction before the pandemic. So Yuni herself was not directly involved in the construction process. "So I didn't come here at all. I didn't see the monitoring of the school relocation, construction, and other things. I didn't come here. So for two years, I didn't come to Batu City. Everything was just video calls and WhatsApp," she said.

Many parties helped until the building was realized as it is now, including the architectural design donated by her friend, Otto Setyawan. Meanwhile, the construction contractor was handed over to Ali Rifki, who is also the manager of Arema FC. "Incidentally, we are friends, so I can contact him via phone, WhatsApp, and others," he said.

In addition, several parties contributed in the form of goods such as marble floors and sound systems. Even specifically, the hall of the building was built with the help of CSR from The Time Place. "So the hall is from The Time Place, which has CSR helping PAUD schools in Indonesia, this is one of the ones helped," he explained.

Yuni admitted to never submitting a proposal for assistance, but anyone is welcome to help her school. She hopes her school will provide many benefits to her homeland. "I built this hopefully to be useful for children who can study here, especially residents around Batu. I was born in Sisir, built a school in Sisir too. Hopefully, children can study here.

The Cahaya Permata Abadi Foundation oversees PAUD, TK A, TK B, and Child Care. As of now, the number of students is 160.

3. The Story of Starting to Engage in the World of Education

Initially, Yuni did not think of entering the world of children's education. The plan began with a pilgrimage to bring her children closer to their hometown. "My mother's birthplace is here. Finally, at that time, we couldn't find a hotel and found a rented house, where we could stay," she said.

Finally, it was decided together with the children to stay in Batu. But when saying goodbye to the house, they saw the condition of a school that was very concerning. "At that time, I looked for a rental house for the children to go to school there," she said firmly.

Since then, the rented house has slowly been renovated, starting from painting and making children's ornaments. The situation continued for more than 10 years.
