The Story Behind the Production of the Indonesian Song 'Pasti Bisa', Ari Lasso: Let's Enter the Studio After Taking a Shower

Kapanlagi.com - Singer Ari Lasso has completed a new song titled 'Indonesia Pasti Bisa' (Indonesia Can Definitely Do It), composed by a fried duck seller named Bobby Febian. The lyric video for the song has been released on his YouTube channel since May 1, 2020.

The song, dedicated to the Indonesian people to stay motivated amidst the COVID-19 crisis, was worked on by Ari Lasso together with Andra Ramadhan and Roy Aviantara on April 7, 2020.

According to the former vocalist of the band Dewa 19, the production process of the song was quite difficult as it was done in the midst of the pandemic. He even described the song project as something miraculous and crazy. He had never met the songwriter or the SiCepat executive producer.

"This is a miraculous project, a crazy project. I have never met Bobby or Bu Wiwin (Chief Marketing Officer of SiCepat Ekspres). I only saw their faces this afternoon, but the project can still proceed," said Ari Lasso during a virtual press conference on Monday (4/5).

1. Challenging Oneself

The recording process itself was a challenge for Ari Lasso. He had to think hard to invite musicians involved in the song's production who truly adhere to government regulations during the pandemic.

"First, the production's safety. Selecting players is a challenge in itself. I know Roy, he's quarantined at home. I can't be sure about the other players, but I'm friends with Andra, I know he's disciplined in following the lockdown. The biggest challenge is preparing the song's production with high protocols and safety. Every time Andra enters the studio, he showers and washes his hair before he's allowed to enter the studio. In the studio, we're also required to wear masks," said Ari Lasso.

2. Finally Able to Finish the Song

Finally, with two of his colleagues, Ari Lasso was able to finish the song in just one day. "I didn't use a crew and I wanted to work for one night. I started at 8 in the morning and finished at half past one at night. The production process is complete. Mixing, editing at our respective homes," he said.

Ari Lasso admitted that the socially-themed song will be a historic project that he will not easily forget. He also hopes that it can serve as a good example for others to remain active in creating despite staying at home. "This song truly has a personal impression because I worked on it from the beginning, at home, with strict protocols. I found a positive activity that hopefully can set an example for friends to stay creative, stay at home," he concluded.
