To Deddy Corbuzier, Nita Gunawan tells her surprising life story. She was known to have been expelled by her family at a young age of 15.

Nita Gunawan mentioned that she was born as a Muslim. However, at a young age, she decided to convert to Christianity.

"(Nita) Christian. My dad is Muslim. My parents are Muslim, my siblings are Muslim," said Nita on Deddy Corbuzier's podcast.

She admitted that she had changed her belief in junior high school, before her father passed away.

"I converted when I was 13 years old. (My father passed away) when I was 16. Yes (I converted alone)," she added.

Of course, the decision was met with opposition. Since childhood, she had been raised as a Muslim and even wore a hijab to school.

"I used to wear a hijab to school, pray five times a day, six actually, including Tahajud. Then suddenly, after I turned 13, I converted (religions)," she said.

She mentioned that her decision made her get kicked out and had to live in a boarding house. "I was once kicked out of the house. I remember when I was 15 years old, I lived in a boarding house," she revealed.

As time goes by, Nita's family finally can accept their child's decision to change their belief. "My family used to strongly oppose it. And now they can accept it. If, for example, during Eid, I still come home. We never differentiate," she concluded.
