The Term 'Galgah' Coined by Bunga Reyza is Now Officially Recognized by KBBI

Bunga Reyza has long been known as a young musician. One of her songs that is perhaps already familiar to the public is Tahu Diri, which has been reinterpreted. Yes, Bunga Reyza sings a new version of the song by Dewi 'Dee' Lestari.

Now, she is once again capturing attention. This time, Bunga's creativity has received recognition once more. Her coined term, Galgah, is now officially included in the Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI). This word was created by Bunga as the antonym of thirsty.

"The opposite of hungry is full, while thirsty has no opposite. So, it’s confusing, right? Do you want to eat? No, I'm full. Do you want to drink? No, why? That's it. That's why we just created it," said Bunga explaining the origin of the idea.

She exemplified the use of the word in everyday sentences. "Do you want to drink? Not right now, I'm already galgah. Galgah, like that. It feels like my throat is already fresh, I'm already galgah," she added while laughing.

The inclusion of the word galgah in the KBBI is evidence of recognition of the creativity of the younger generation in enriching the Indonesian language. Bunga also expressed her gratitude to Gen Z, who played a significant role in viralizing the term on social media.

"Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Greetings, om swastiastu, namo budaya, greetings of goodness to us all. On this occasion, I, Bunga Reyza, would like to express my deepest gratitude to the nation of the Republic of Indonesia for supporting me in legitimizing the word I created, which is galgah. I hope this can be an inspiration for the development of the creativity of the nation's children," she stated.

In the screenshot uploaded by Bunga Reyza, galgah in KBBI means gal.gah (already) relieved or fresh throat because of drinking; not thirsty.

The inclusion of the word galgah in KBBI has also received many positive reactions from netizens, who consider this step as a form of appreciation for fresh ideas from Indonesian youth.

Besides Galgah, Bunga has also changed the name of fish to 'Ablug'. In her explanation, Bunga mentioned that the inspiration came from unexpected daily activities.

“The inspiration comes from anywhere, sometimes while riding a motorcycle I think of it, while washing the motorcycle I think of it. Basically, I really like to think creatively, because it’s better to have many thoughts than to have none,” she said.
