Tika Ramlan Calls Creative Industry Players as One of the Biggest Contributors to the Country's Foreign Exchange

Met after the 3rd Anniversary event of GEKRAFS at the Jakarta Art Building some time ago, Tika Ramlan stated that together with her friends in the organization, they will continue to promote the creative industry. According to surveys and data she has, the creative industry plays an important role in the national economy.

"In these three years of Gekrafs, our function is actually what Bang Sandi (Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy) has already conveyed. We want the creative economy players to be seen and appreciated more because according to surveys, it turns out that the creative economy players contribute significantly to the country's foreign exchange. So our vision is to have many activities that can support the creative economy players," said Tika Ramlan.

1. Surviving in the Midst of the Pandemic

In the past two years, the creative industry has also felt the impact of the pandemic. However, the players in the creative industry did not give up easily. Tika Ramlan stated that all players in the creative industry innovate to survive in the midst of the pandemic.

"There are also fashion, craft, and culinary industries. And during the pandemic, creative economy players have been more innovative, for example, we have online concerts for music. Maybe there are some who have held offline concerts but watched from inside their cars, that's also a creative innovation. Fashion has also seen many virtual Fashion shows," she explained.

2. Innovation in the Creative Industry

The music industry is one of the subsectors of the creative economy that is gaining attention. The popularity of online concerts as one form of innovation during the pandemic with all the concepts presented has become familiar to music lovers in the country.

Sonya Laoh Mendes, CEO of SRN Entertainment and also the Head of Media Relations at Gekrafs, revealed that the presence of online concerts is one way to improve the national economy.

"Representing Gekraf and SRN Entertainment, we have many programs for online and offline music concerts in 2022. Hopefully, we can collaborate to advance the creative economy in each region. For example, we will organize off-air events, inviting creative economy players in each city to educate about the creative economy and hold concerts that will be held in each city," she said.

3. The Rise of the Creative Industry in the Homeland

The same thing was also stated by the Chairman of Gekrafs Kawendra Lukistian. He admitted that he is optimistic that the creative industry in the homeland will rise again. Moreover, creative industry players can survive in the pandemic era and also innovate.

"When this collaboration happens, it means moving the economy in a collaborative capacity and we ensure that one of the things that makes us optimistic is that this creative economy is actually seen to survive in the midst of the pandemic. It means that we can think more out of the box with various potentials that exist, both at the provincial level and our branches can overcome all of this," said Kawendra.
