Together with Cathy Sharon and Geng Tempey, Maia Estianty Donates More Than 20 Thousand PPEs for Medical Workers

She didn't do it alone, Maia joined forces with several other celebrity friends who are part of the Geng Tempey group. One of them is Cathy Sharon.

"This is a collaboration between me and Cathy, a combination of two accounts, because Cathy is part of Geng Tempey," said Maia when contacted on Thursday (26/3).

1. Donate 20 Thousand PPE

Until today, Maia Estianty said that they have successfully distributed donations of more than 20 thousand medical equipment. "Wow, it could be tens of thousands. There might be more than 20,000, I think," said Irwan Musry's wife.

Some of the medical equipment sent includes gloves and protective clothing needed by medical personnel.

"There are gloves, hazmats, there is a set of PPE, but not many sets of PPE. But it varies (in each place), for example, only hazmats, or only shoes, so we don't want to take expensive prices out there. We take directly from vendors that make sense. We don't want to be deceived by people outside. That's what we sent. We ordered a lot, like 10,000-14,000," she added.

2. Initial Idea of Fundraising

The initial idea of fundraising done by Maia and her tempey gang came from Cathy Saron's invitation. Support from a number of netizens on social media further strengthened their determination to raise funds.

"Initially, we were just joking around. Last week, Cathy asked in the group if we wanted to fundraise. The kids said all sorts of things. I couldn't sleep all night, and there was also a challenge from followers saying 'Come on, artists, let's do fundraising like in Korea. Artists there donate billions,'" explained Maia.

"Well, if it's my personal funds, I've allocated them elsewhere. Like, for example, schools that can't afford it. But because of me and Cathy, we decided to create a community fundraising," she concluded.
