Eid moments are always associated with family togetherness, including for Vidi Aldiano's family. However, this year, the atmosphere feels different because Vidi, who usually livens up the holiday, is no longer felt.
This was expressed by his father, Harry Kiss, who recounted his son's habits every Eid. One of the most memorable is Vidi's routine of always returning to the family home in the Bintaro area.
According to Harry, Eid is synonymous with special dishes prepared by the family. However, interestingly, the menu served is not always traditional food as is usually the case.
"Yes, usually he comes to our place in Bintaro, then we prepare food, the food is also strange, sushi food, various kinds," said Harry when met by the KapanLagi team at Tanah Kusir Cemetery, Saturday (21/3).
This habit has become a distinctive characteristic for their family. Instead of serving opor and ketupat as the main menu, this family presents a variety of modern dishes that suit Vidi's taste.
Nevertheless, the touch of traditional Eid food still comes from Vidi's wife's family, namely Sheila Dara Aisha. "If opor and others are brought by Mother Sheila (Vidi's mother-in-law). Those dishes are really delicious," he said.
Harry also mentioned that Vidi had quite a simple taste in food even though he liked foods like sushi. This has become part of the daily life that is now missed by the family.
"Then Vidi likes sushi, simple sushi, not the complicated ones," he said.
Besides eating together, the atmosphere of Eid at their home is often colored by the presence of relatives and close friends. This makes the moment even warmer and full of stories. Now, without Vidi's presence, the atmosphere feels different. Although traditions are still carried out, there is an emptiness that is hard to explain.
