The phenomenon of anime-themed cars is indeed booming in 2026 and is becoming a new trend. Previously, the anime My Dress-Up Darling made an appearance on the racetrack with the character Marin Kitagawa, while the theme from Umamusume also adorned cars with unique designs that caught attention.
Not wanting to miss out on the trend, Hammond joined in with his signature style. This time, he appeared with a truly eye-catching car that immediately captured the attention of fans from various communities, both automotive and anime. For those curious about the detailed information, let's move on to the next discussion.

Recently, the trend of cars with anime themes has been increasingly visible, especially in the racing and automotive world, which is starting to embrace creative concepts. The colorful designs and iconic characters make such cars instantly eye-catching and easily go viral on social media.
One example is the GT3 car adorned with the character Marin Kitagawa from MY DRESS-UP DARLING, which made an appearance on the racetrack. Additionally, there is also an elite BMW with a UMAMUSUME themed livery that has also captured attention for its unique appearance.
With the trend continuing to evolve, Richard Hammond's presence in this concept feels like a blend of two worlds that rarely meet. The classic automotive world, synonymous with performance, is now encountering the vibrant modern anime pop culture.

On May 3, Hammond shared a video of himself driving a Porsche GT3 RS with a AZUR LANE themed design. The car was fully wrapped with striking images of anime girl characters and immediately became the center of attention.
The character featured is Taihou, one of the popular characters from AZUR LANE known for her distinctive and quite iconic design. This makes the car look unique and bold visually, especially for the mainstream automotive world.
AZUR LANE itself is known for its character concept inspired by legendary warships, similar to the approach of UMAMUSUME which transforms elements from the real world into anime characters. This combination makes Hammond's car feel even more interesting and unusual.

As can be expected, this video was immediately filled with comments from fans who felt entertained by this unique combination. Many referred to it as the most unexpected crossover they have ever seen, yet it somehow felt fitting.
One viral comment described this combination as a unique blend of global cultures, ranging from Chinese games, Japanese characters, German cars, to British presenters. This made the moment feel even more interesting and different from the usual.
Some fans even hoped that this concept could be brought to The Grand Tour and turned into a special episode. On the other hand, strange crossover phenomena like this are not new, as the previous collaboration of eFootball with NARUTO also featured Neymar as a ninja in a similarly unexpected concept.
