"The problem is that my mother can't eat, so every day I think about what she can eat. I sometimes bring food that gets eaten and sometimes doesn't, and eating is her source of energy. That's also what makes her condition worse. So my focus every day is how my mother can eat first to have energy," said Atiqah.
Recently, Ratna's health condition has indeed been declining. Atiqah also mentioned that her mother feels so stressed being held in prison that she doesn't want to eat.
"This means that because she is also consuming antidepressant medication, we are talking about the symptoms of depression she is experiencing. If she (Ratna Sarumpaet) remains in detention, the condition and atmosphere will certainly worsen. That is what we are trying to avoid," added Insang.
Atiqah herself also explained that for the past year, Ratna has been regularly consuming antidepressant medication from a psychiatrist. The legal representative explained that they are currently trying to make Ratna a house arrest or home detention.
"Physically and psychologically, my mother is really under pressure, really down. I don't want to think about outside pressure first; I want to think about my mother's health, both for herself and to face the upcoming trial," said Atiqah.
When asked for testimony by the authorities some time ago, Atiqah indeed did not want to comment much. Unlike before, now Atiqah shared some information about her mother's condition.
