Wanting a Lighter Prison Sentence, Gaga Muhammad Appeals

Kapanlagi.com - The latest development comes from the legal case involving celebrity influencer Gaga Muhammad. Through his legal representative, Fahmi Bachmid, the owner of the full name Gaung Sabda Alam Muhammad has submitted an appeal process.

As previously known, Gaga was found guilty of negligence in a car accident that left Edelenyi Laura Anna paralyzed and later resulted in her death. The young man was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.

"Gaga has submitted an appeal. The defendant has submitted it through his legal advisor," said Alex Adam Faisal, the spokesperson for the East Jakarta court, when contacted by the media on Tuesday (25/1/2022).

1. Submit Appeal This Week

When contacted separately, Fahmi Bachmid confirmed that he has submitted an appeal against the judge's decision. The appeal was submitted last Monday (24/1/2022).

"Yesterday was the appeal," said Fahmi, who is also known for handling Nikita Mirzani's legal case.

2. Lighter Punishment

Through the appeal, Fahmi Bachmid hopes that Gaga Muhammad's sentence will be lighter. However, everything is left to the panel of judges.

"The expected decision is for the punishment to be lighter. The exact amount is up to the panel of judges who have the authority to decide," he added.

3. Proven Guilty

Gaga Muhammad has been convincingly proven guilty of the accident that caused his former girlfriend, Edelenyi Laura Anna, to become paralyzed and eventually die. The young man was found to have violated Article 310 Paragraph 3 of Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transportation for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Gaga was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. The former boyfriend of celebrity influencer Awkarin is also required to pay a fine of Rp 10 million.

Meanwhile, Gaga Muhammad's mother, Janariah, also attended the verdict hearing of her son held at the East Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (19/1/2022). It is known that Gaga Muhammad was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for a traffic accident case that caused severe injuries and paralysis to Laura Anna.

During the hearing, Janariah said she did not have any problem with the decision of the panel of judges at the South Jakarta District Court. Janariah believes that Gaga Muhammad will sincerely serve the four years and six months prison sentence.

"Insyaallah, he (Gaga) will go through it sincerely, whatever it is. He is still young, so just relax. I just want to quote what Laura's older sister said, that God never sleeps, He will see where the truth lies. Just relax," said Janariah at the East Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (19/1/2022).

5. Not Hurt

Janariah admits that she does not feel hurt by the judge's decision to sentence her child to four years and six months in prison. According to her, it is the best punishment for her child.

"We will never feel hurt, as long as this is indeed the best punishment. And this is a very valuable lesson for Gaga that she must take the wisdom from. So, let's just relax," said Janariah.
