The star of the film INEM PELAYAN SEXY (1976) felt called to embrace Christianity after seeing a Christmas tree. At such a young age, the actress felt a sense of peace when looking at the Christmas tree.
"I often talked to my aunt who is a Christian, but when I saw the Christmas tree, I couldn't speak or share my problems," said Yati Surachman, as quoted from the YouTube channel Miracle of Life, on Monday (21/02/2022).
"At that moment, I felt that the Christmas tree was very beautiful. It brought peace to my heart. It was so simple. I also didn't know the term for it at that time," she continued.

After that moment, Yati then said that there was a starfruit tree in her yard that never bore fruit. One day, her father put twinkling lights on the starfruit tree.
“When I came home from work, my father brought lights and put them on the tree. He said, let it be like the neighbor's. Strangely, after Christmas, the tree bore fruit,” said the 64-year-old actress.

"I became more curious in my heart, 'What is it about this Christmas tree?' It's not a pine tree, but why does it keep bearing fruit regardless of the season. What's going on?" continued Yati Surachman.

After gaining that experience and driven by an intense curiosity, Yati Surachman then began to learn about Christianity and eventually asked to be baptized.
"That's where I learned about Christianity and asked to be baptized. But at that time, I wasn't brave enough to tell my family that I had converted religions," she concluded.
