Yojiro Noda Releases Debut Album of His Solo Project: 'WONDER BOY'S AKUMU CLUB'

The vocalist and frontman of the famous Japanese rock band, RADWIMPS, has finally released his debut solo album titled WONDER BOY'S AKUMU CLUB. After achieving great success with RADWIMPS, Yojiro is now trying something new in the music world with this solo project. You must be wondering how Yojiro decided to make a solo album, right? Well, Yojiro shared that this project actually started by accident.

"At first, there was a beatmaker named HOLLY, who sent me a lot of beats through Instagram. Honestly, I initially didn’t have time to open or listen to them. But eventually, I tried listening and... wow! So many ideas suddenly popped into my head," Yojiro revealed.

Because he was interested, Yojiro immediately asked HOLLY to send some files of the songs he liked. And from there, the idea of creating a solo album began to develop.

Even though at that time Yojiro was still busy writing songs for RADWIMPS and pursuing his career as an actor, he still made time to experiment with music. Interestingly, Yojiro had no initial plans to make a solo album. "Honestly, this is just an experiment. I added my vocals to the music I was writing, and suddenly that idea kept growing into something bigger," he added.

After going through a long process full of experimentation, Yojiro's first solo album titled ‘WONDER BOY'S AKUMU CLUB’ was finally born. In this album, Yojiro also tries to push the boundaries of music that he had never explored before. By incorporating elements of hip-hop and hyperpop, this album feels fresher and definitely different from RADWIMPS' previous works. In addition, the lyrics written by Yojiro are also more personal and emotional, adding a new color to his music.

1. Exploring New Music & Epic Collaborations in This Album

The album WONDER BOY'S AKUMU CLUB is not just a platform for Yojiro to explore music, but also a way for him to express emotional and personal sides that have never been seen before. After 25 years in the music industry with RADWIMPS, Yojiro feels this is the right time to try something new. He wants to push the boundaries of music that he has yet to touch. And this is clearly evident in this album, where Yojiro experiments with various new genres, from hip-hop to hyperpop, which sets it apart from his previous projects.

In addition to bold musical exploration, this album also showcases cool collaborations with equally great musicians! One of the songs on this album is "EVERGREEN feat. kZm," a collaboration with Japanese rapper kZm, which was released as a single last April. Additionally, there is also another epic collaboration with American rapper J.I.D, in a song titled “KATATOKI.” This song even became part of the soundtrack for the popular game ‘Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.’

One of the special items is a t-shirt featuring the character AKUMU-KUN, a collaboration between Yojiro and Posuka Demizu, the famous mangaka who is also the author of the popular manga 'The Promised Neverland'.

Now, KLovers, you must be curious why the character AKUMU-KUN is in this album? It turns out that this idea came from Yojiro's desire to express his musical freedom through a character. AKUMU-KUN was designed as a figure that represents Yojiro's creative and explorative side in this solo project.
